"Spirituality includes a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life."-Louise Delagran, MA, MEd
How often have you felt that there was more to life than what you are being offered? We tend to get into rabbit holes and hamster wheels when we don't have clear guidance on the steps to take to make our lives better. Spirituality is an umbrella term that can be perceived in many different ways.
There are many avenues that one seeks more information about what their purpose is. Some seek out church, biblical foundations, tarot readers, psychics, pastors, life coaches, therapists, etc. There is no right or wrong way to seek what makes life better for you. Many depending on their upbringing, want a personal relationship with our creator and have guidance. I have often heard people that are opposed to the very word of "Spirituality" most often times are devout Christians or have a strong faith in their religion. In learning how we fit in this world, we tend to gravitate to ideals that are familiar. The unknown and less talked about paths are often hard for those who become non religious. It takes an immeasurable time to gravitate from strict ideals and beliefs to achieve mental freedom.
Spirituality beliefs are not a substitute for real therapy that needs to be had. If one is not mentally healthy, adopting beliefs from one extreme to another can cause one to be viewed as "crazy", "Unstable", and "Not healthy". When clients express to me that they hear voices or have ideas of harming themselves, I quickly recommend a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. When we substitute pleasures for real help, we often time find ourselves still depleted and left empty than we started before.
We have an obligation to ourselves to find healthy measures that allow us to experience happiness, joy and self accomplishment using a faith based methodology. There is no science to prove which faith is stronger or is applicable to your situation or beliefs. To truly experience life is to experience life with no judgement and fear that things are set up for your bad. We learn information to apply and utilize it in our every day life. We have friends, family, co workers and strangers that have experienced things that cause them to question why they are relevant to life or our very being here on Earth.
Finding what works for your peace of mind and happiness, all depends on what disciplines you have, ability to fix things or habits in our lives, and being consistent with those changes.
